Follow Our Journey to The South Pole
Eirliani and Ruta who are based in Delhi will be setting off for the South Pole in December 2018 by way of Reedy Glacier on the Ross Ice Shelf which has not been done before. Over two months, they will be dragging a 100kg (220 lbs) sled each in polar conditions (-30 deg C) over 1100km (683 miles). If successful, both explorers will be the first women to trek to the South Pole from their countries.

Eirliani On Child Abuse
Eirliani Abdul Rahman quit the Singapore Foreign Service after ten years of service, set up her non-profit on child rights and child protection, and decided to gain media attention on the subject by attempting to be the first woman from her country to walk to the South Pole. With a simple message of hope, Eirliani believes that child abuse can be prevented and that we all have a role to play. And that deep within us, we are all on an Odyssey in search for our reservoir of strength and resilience.
Why are they doing this?
The benefits of a systematic and escalating training regime affects the performance of the team. We will have to escalate our training at least three months prior to departure with one of the most effective training in ʻ‘tyre draggingʼ’. It looks a bit strange, but it works. With 3 old tyres tied with four metres of rope and a carabiner, sled harness with padded shoulder straps and a waist belt. The ski poles assists with momentum, power and balance and ought to help develop our technique. We will have to accustom a stride of our fitting. Whilst planting the pole next to each of our foot and use it to push forward into the next stride.
Situated on the continent of Antarctica, The South Pole, also known as the Geographic South Pole or Terrestrial South Pole, is one of the two points where the Earth's axis of rotation intersects its surface.
